Encouraging day

So, I just sold a painting. Yay! It's always such a good feeling to make a sale. A real morale booster. Especially when it's as crazy easy as today...

I went to Sagebrush Coffee & Art House to pick up my painting from their group show. Eric gave me the info for somebody who was interested in buying my piece. Well, then the guy happened to walk in right then! I recognized him and he's bought some of my work before. So we confirmed a price and we'll meet up again when he's got his check book. Sweet.

So, morale. That sale was a cheerful little "hey, go ahead and get back in your studio like you've been wanting! The house will come together, just paint."

It's still a work progress...but at least I can actually use the space now!

I've missed drawing...

Since we're in the middle of moving and fixing up two houses, I don't get much time for important stuff unless it is absolutely essential. I forget sometimes that drawing is absolutely essential!

Got to sketch this fox with my students today. Good idea.

Flipboard

Just added a new app to my phone: "flipboard." Found some cool articles. Inspiring. Creative.

Also did some concept art for Hans' story. Might turn into something very cool. I just need to wrap my head around it. It's like a commission that is very loosely structured, but also very specific, and also ongoing. Book illustration is new ground for me!

Pen & colored ink

I've done lots of pen & ink drawings over the years...but I've only used colored inks on rare occasions. What's wrong with me? I love colored inks! I think I found some inspiration for a new series.
